DAY 1: CUSCO – LAGUNA HUMANTAY – SUYRUCOCHA:   Caminata.

We will leave Cusco at 5:00 am, in the private mobility of Lorenzo Expeditions to Mollepata (3,850 m.s.n.m.). We will make a forty-minute stop to have breakfast and introduce our cook and muleteer, who will assist us during our expedition. Then we will go to Soraypampa (one hour by bus), where we will start our first day of walking to the very famous Humantay Lagoon, where we will enjoy one of the most beautiful views, lunch. After a short rest, we will continue the trek for three hours to our first camp in Suyruccocha (4,300 m.s.n.m.). Around 05:30 pm we will have our "HAPPY HOUR", where you can drink the famous coca tea to counteract altitude sickness and where our guide will explain a little more about the area where we are. Then, we will appreciate the Andean night sky and the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay (an experience that can only be had in this camp). At the end of dinner, our guide will give us all the details for the next day of the tour.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

DAY 2: SUYRUCOCHA – PASO SALKANTAY – COLLPAPAMPA:  Caminata.

After breakfast we will do different stretching exercises so as not to have any physical problems, since this day will not only be long and hard, but we will also reach the highest point of our tour. We will have an hour and a half of ascent from our camp to the Salkantay pass (4,600 masl). At this point, our guide will explain the importance of this Inca Trail and also the role these majestic mountains had for our ancestors. We will continue with our walk, now descending, to the small town of Huayraq, where we can rest and enjoy our snacks. From this point the climate, the vegetation and the views will change drastically, since for the second time we will go from one ecological floor to another. We will enter an area full of orchids, medicinal plants and bamboo plantations. Lunch, After a rest, we will continue with the descent to our second camp: the town of Collpapampa.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

DAY 3: COLLPAPAMPA – SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA :  Caminata.

This day will be incomparable and unforgettable, because during the walk we will be able to see a great variety of flora and fauna as we pass through different agricultural fields of local people that allow us to appreciate the local vegetation. The terrain this day is calmer, with moderate ups and downs, and most importantly: at a lower altitude than the previous days. Throughout the journey we will have the opportunity to appreciate different rivers that come from the nearby snow-capped mountains, as well as some waterfalls.

The change in climate will be a unique experience, because we will go from the icy cold of the previous days to a warm and humid climate characteristic of the jungle or high jungle. We will arrive at our camping point at lunch time. In the afternoon we will visit the house of a family in the area, heirs to the local agricultural techniques. On this visit we will learn a lot about its economy based on agriculture, mainly coffee. They will teach us how to produce Peruvian organic coffee, which in recent years has won several international awards. We will also have the option of visiting the thermal baths of Cocalmayo, which requires taking local transportation and prior coordination with the guide.

Meals included: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

DAY 4:  SANTA TERESA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES:  Caminata.

After breakfast, we will restart the walk along a path that connected Machu Picchu with the jungle, but was also used as an escape route by many of the inhabitants of Machu Picchu during the conquest. After a well-deserved lunch, we will continue the walk until we reach Hidroeléctrica, the government control point to enter the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Here we will enjoy lunch. The last three hours of the walk will be along the banks of the Vilcanota River until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will spend our last night in a comfortable hotel. At night we will have dinner with our group and the coordination for the most important day of our trip: the day of Machu Picchu!
